The Food

Cocktail Hour:

We will be serving 2 hot and 2 cold hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour along with a fruit display. We haven't decided on any menu choices yet (still too early!) but we are thinking some type of beef appetizer as well as a vegetarian choice for the hot selections, and a caprese or buschetta and a shrimp/seafood option for the cold offerings. An open bar will also be provided.

Reception Dinner:

We are leaning towards a buffet-style meal. We are thinking an Italian spread with chicken, beef, and vegetarian entree options, with salads and sides. Dessert will be our wedding cake! The bar will be closed during dinner but there will be wine service and a champagne toast with dinner. After dinner we will offer a host bar of domestic and imported beer, white and red wine, soda, champagne, call selections of liquor, and at least one signature drink. I am thinking a Lemon Drop martini or a Pink Lemonade martini!

The Cake

We haven't settled on a design yet, but we do know that it will be 4 tiers and we want to keep the design simple. No over-abundance of swirls and twirls or pedestals or anything like that. I love the look of fondant draping, and I want to incorporate some small sprays of our flowers, either real or gum paste.

We have decided on 3 of our 4 flavor tiers! Our cake will be:
- Triple Chocolate cake with a Chocolate Mousse filling
- Strawberry Swirl cake with Bavarian Cream filling
- French Vanilla cake with Lemon filling

For the last layer we are trying to decide between:
- White cake with a Raspberry filling
                     OR
-Oreo cake with a White Chocolate Mousse filling

Late Night Snacks

We also want to provide our guests with a late night snack near the end of the evening. Perhaps mini sliders and fries? Quesadillas and chips & salsa? Pizza? Deli sandwiches? This will all depend on what is available at our venue since they do not allow outside catering other than the cake.
